WHY THE DEVIL HATES THE SECRET PLACE

Psalms 91:1

Intro: One of the hardest things for the Christian to do today is to take

the time to get alone with God in the secret place of prayer. Since Satan

fights us so hard in this matter, there must be some reasons why.

 

I. THE SECRET PLACE GIVES YOU AN AWARENESS OF YOUR

SINS...

Too many of us are like:

A. Peter, following the Lord afar off

B. The church of Ephesus, left our first love

C. The Corinthians, still carnal babies

D. The Laodecians, lukewarm

II. THE SECRET PLACE GIVES YOU AN ATTITUDE OF SUPPLICATION

The more you pray, the more you want to:

A. Prayer will get you wanting what God wants

B. Prayer will get you willing as God wills

C. Prayer will get you working as God works

III. THE SECRET PLACE GIVES AN ANOINTING OF THE SPIRIT

Instead of all the pushing, pulling, pumping & priming when you

come out of the secret place you will:

A. Walk in the Spirit...Gal. 5:16

B. Worship in the Spirit...John 4:24

C. Witness in the Spirit...Acts 1:8

IV. IN THE SECRET PLACE GOD GIVES AN APPOINTMENT FOR

SERVICE

Every one that hangs around God gets sent somewhere:

A. God sent Jesus...John 3:17

B. Jesus sent the twelve, later the seventy

C. Holy spirit sent Philip...Acts 8:26

D. As the Church prayed they were told to send Barnabas

and Saul...Acts 13:1-4

V. THE SECRET PLACE GIVES AN APPRECIATION OF THE

SAVIOUR

Note the words "dwelleth" and "abide"

-Dwelleth means to sit down, sit still, tarry

-Abide means to lodge, spend the night, pass the storm

Under the shadow of the Almighty He is:

A. A shelter for our protection

B. A shepherd for our pastoring

C. A surety for our peace

D. A source for our provisions
