WATCHMAN, WHAT OF THE NIGHT

Isaiah 21:11-12

In verse 6 of this chapter we learn the job of the watchman. He is to set

a watch and declare what he sees. I do not claim to be a prophet, but I

have been watching and I see something.

 

In verse 12 there are two things declared:

1. The morning cometh...(this is for the saved)

2. Also the night... (this is for the sinner)

 

I. I SEE THE CHURCH SUFFERING FOR CHRIST...

A. Suffer Purgeings.-John 15:2; Eph .5:26-27

B. Suffer Persecutions...II Tim. 3:12

C. Suffer Perseverance...Hebrews 12

1. Endure the cross of shame...Heb. 12:2

2. Endure the contradiction of sinners...Heb. 12:3

3. Endure the chastening of sons...Heb. 12:6-8

II. I SEE THE CHURCH SNATCHED AWAY BY CHRIST

A. The Return... I Thess. 4:16

B. The Resurrection... I Thess. 4:16

C. The Rapture... I Thess. 4:17

 

III. I SEE THE CHURCH STANDING BEFORE CHRIST...

A. A time of remembering and reckoning...II Cor. 5:10

B. A time of rewards and rejoicing...! Cor. 3:14

C. A time of remorse and regrets...! Cor. 3:13-15

 

IV. I SEE THE CHURCH SITTING BESIDE CHRIST...Rev. 20:4

A. The period of our reigning...Rev. 20:4

B. The position of our reigning...Rev. 5:10

C. The prerequisite of our reigning...II Tim. 2:15

 

V. I SEE THE CHURCH SHARING WITH CHRIST.Jonn 17:24

A. We have shared in His goodness...Rom. 2:4

B. We have shared in His grace...Eph. 2:8-9

C. We shall share in His glory... John 17:24

 

For the Sinner, the night cometh. He will be cast into a furnace of fire,

where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth...Matt. 13:50
