THE PATHWAY TO REVIVAL
Neh. 9:1-5
Intro: Much said about revival, but not much sign of revival
In these verses we find a well lighted pathway that produced a revival in
Nehemiah's day and I believe that if we would follow it, we too could
experience revival today.
I. THEY GOT DOWN TO BUSINESS...V 1
A. Their assembling...Cp Hebrews 10:25
B. Their afflicting..."fasting"
C. Their apparel..."sackclothes and earth upon them"
II. THEY SEPARATED THEMSELVES...V 2
A. The Command of Separation...II Cor. 6:17
B. The Course of Separation...From them unto Him
C. The Consequence of Separation..."God will honor those that
will honor him."
III. THEY CONFESSED THEIR SINS...V 2
Sin will hinder:
A. The Prayers of the Church
B. The Power of the Church
C. The Progress of the Church
IV. THEY STOOD UP IN THEIR PLACE...V 3
A. Right position (stood up) reveals their boldness
B. Right place (in their place) receives the blessings
V. THEY READ IN THE BOOK...V 3
A. Get you pure.-.Psm. 119:9
B. Give you power...Rom. 1:16
C. Give you peace. ..Psm. 119:165
VI. THEY CONFESSED AND WORSHIPED...V 3
A. The Definition of Confession and Worship
1. Confession means to admit, to acknowledge
2. Worship is an overflow of gratitude
B. The Duration of their Confession and Worship
The fourth part of the day
C. The Declaration of their Confession & Worship
In verses 4-38, they declared, "Who God is" and "What God
had done". The word "Thou" appears at least thirty times in these verses.
