CROSSING OVER JORDAN

Joshua 1:11-11; 3:1-4

Intro: Notice three things by way of introduction.

1. A promise that's unconditional...V 5

2. A possession that's unclaimed...V 4, 6

3. A proclamation that's undeniable...V 2

 

Tonight by the grace of God I hope we will find out how, and that some

of us might even PASS OVER JORDAN and POSSESS THE LAND. In

order to do this, there must be:

I. SATURATION WITH THE WORD...1-.7-9

A. Totally committed to the book...V 7

B. Totally continuing in the book...V 8

C. Totally consumed by the book...V 9

II. SEPARATION OF THE WATERS...Ch. 3

A. The divine orders...1:2,11

B. The divine order...3:3-4

C. The divine operation...3:13-15

III. STONES OF WITNESS.-.Ch. 4

A. The submerged stones...Things of the wilderness life

must be buried...V 9

B. The speaking stones...V 3-7. There should be some 

memorial monuments set up in our paths that we can come back and tell

our children the things that the Lord has done for us.

IV. SEPARATION FROM THE WORLD...5:1-10

There are some things that must be rolled away.

A. The reproach of the flesh...V 9

B. The reproach of the feast...V 10 (hadn't kept it)

C. The reproach of the food.-.V 11 (no more manna)

V. SURRENDER OF THE WILL..5:13-15

A. The situation analyzed...V 13

1. Jordan behind him

2. Jericho before him

3. Jews all around him

B. The shocking appearance... V 13-14

1. The person, man, captain of the Lord's host

2. The position, against Joshua with drawn sword

3. The perplexity, are for us or against us?

C. The surrender altogether..Joshua falls down

Each of the above comes one step at a time. Why should God give us

second orders when we have not carried out the first orders?
