CAN A MAN WALK WITH GOD IN THESE DAYS
Genesis 5:19-24; Genesis 6:1-9
Intro: The same statement is made about both these men
Enoch walked with God...Gen. 5:22
Noah walked with God.-.Gen. 6:9
Since this statement is not made about any other man in the Bible, the
question arises, Is it still possible?
I. THE PERIOD WHEN NOAH WALKED WITH GOD.
A. IT WAS A TIME OF SPIRITUAL CRISES.-.They Rejected:
1. The moving of God's Spirit...Gen. 6:3
2. The message of God's Servant
...II Peter 2:53. The means of God's Salvation
..the arkB. IT WAS A TIME OF SOCIAL CORRUPTION...
(This always follows a spiritual crises as above)
1. They had material blessings
2. They had moral bankruptcy...V 5,11,12
3. They had marital breakdown...V 1, Man. 24:37-39
C. IT WAS A TIME OF SOVEREIGN CURSE...
1. God saw...V 5
2. God sorrowed... V6
3. God said...V7, "l've had it..."
D. But for Noah IT WAS A TIME OF SWEET COMMUNION...
V 9. In the midst of all this, even without a Bible, Noah walked
with God.
II. THE PLAN FOR WALKING WITH GOD...There must be:
A. A meeting place...God always meets man at the blood
B. A marked path..both walk by the book
C. A mutual pace...not too fast nor too slow
III. THE PRICE OF WALKING WITH GOD.-.Sometimes it costs:
A. Subduing of the flesh...Romans 8:8-9
B. Separation from the family...Luke 14:26-27
C. Scorning by your friends...Cp Job
IV. THE PAYDAY FOR WALKING WITH GOD...Noah enjoyed:
A. The sweetness of his fellowship
B. The salvation of his family
C. The security through the flood
